Sea Scouts out on the water!
Based on the River Itchen in Southampton, During the summer, We aim to provide Skills For Life on the water. Sea Scouts participate in a range of water based activities, such as Kayaking, Canoeing, Dinghy Sailing and Powerboating.
Scouts also take part in camps run by the section, district and county to allow them to meet fellow young people, and share their passion and develop new skills
During winter months, the troop take part in land based activities, where they work towards their Chief Scout's Gold Award.
Royal Navy Recognised Sea Scouts
We are part of the RNRSS Scheme, which gives us the opportunity to participate in yearly events, such as Summer Camp, Swimming Gala and Multi-Sports Camp. During the week long Summer Camp, participants will meet with fellow RN Sea Scouts based up and down the country from other recognised groups, and take part in a range of activities from experiencing yachting and powerboating, to gaining RYA qualifications and coding robots.
The "Les Gough" Boathouse
Based on the City side of the Itchen River, We have access to a range of boats and equipment.
We strive to create an engaging and varied programme, consisting of Paddlesports such as Kayaking, Canoeing and Paddleboarding as well as Dinghy Sailing in a range of Double-handed and Single-handed sailing dinghies.
We also try to run events and activity days where members can get out on the water during the day, this is often in the form of River trips and open days.
