Learn new skills at Explorers
Despite being run under the Itchen South Scout District, Poseidon Explorers share facilities and management with 9th Itchen Sea Scouts, allowing even more Young People to access the water here in Southampton.
Over the Summer, the troop meet at the Boathouse for a range of water based activities such as Kayaking, Canoeing, Dinghy Sailing, Water Safety, Rowing and Powerboating.
Over the Winter, We are based in the hall, where explorers plan and prepare a programme at the start of the winter, and then take it in turns to run an evening - This allows the explorers to have freedom with what skills and badges they can to complete, as well as share the "Best of Scouting" with their fellow explorers. This usually consists of Cooking, Firefighting, Wide Games and much more.
Royal Navy Recognised Sea Scouts
Poseidon Explorers are members of the RNRSS Scheme, which gives us the opportunity to participate in yearly events, such as Explorer Camp, Swimming Gala and Multi-Sports Camp. During the week long Explorer Camp, participants will meet with fellow RN Sea Explorers based up and down the country from other recognised groups, and take part in a range of activities such as yachting, powerboating, Gaining PaddleUK and RYA Qualifications as well as so much more.
